Boko Haram links: Sherrif, Zanna, Ndume under surveillance – IG

Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar yesterday said in Abuja, that three politicians are being investigated over allegations of sponsoring the Boko Haram sect.
They are former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, Senator Ahmed Zanna (PDP, Borno Central) and Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (PDP, Borno South).

Abubakar disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists at the opening of a conference for police sectional heads, zonal commanders and states criminal investigations departments.
He asked the public to assist the police by providing useful information that would help in prosecution.
“We cannot take anybody to court without ample evidence. Investigators need evidence to pursue their cases. So we need assistance. This is one of the many reasons for this conference today,” he said.
Sheriff and Zannah have been at loggerheads over accusation and counter-accusation of links with Boko Haram while Ndume is currently on trial on alleged sponsorship of the sect. He was indicted by a former spokesman for the group, Ali Konduga.
