The deceased was crushed to death by a fast moving articulated vehicle at about 6pm, yesterday while trying to evade police arrest .

The sad incident resulted in traffic gridlock and motorists were stranded for hours as Okada riders in the vicinity went on the rampage to protest the death of their colleague.

The deceased, P.MNEWS gathered was said to be a tailor, who also rode the motorcycle in the evening after close of work to make some money.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the deceased was trying to evade arrest by the policemen who were on patrol in the area, apparently to enforce restriction of okada on that particular road as specified by the Lagos Traffic Law.

“He was coming from Shasha end of the road en-route Akowonjo roundabout after close of work as a tailor when he ran into the policemen on patrol. Before then, he had only gone to make a U-turn from the same roundabout when he could not find a passenger to carry.

“In the process he ran into policemen and in an attempt to escape from the arrest he fell under the tyre of the articulated vehicle which crushed him.

“Other okada riders who were watching the development, immediately blocked the road and went after the policemen on patrol.”

A combined team of regular and anti-riot policemen restored normalcy after shooting in the air to scare away the rampaging youths and okada riders.

The Commander of “ Area M” command, Idimu, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Ibrahim Kaoje, who led the team of policemen to the scene, described the incident as unfortunate.

He urged the okoda riders and sympathisers on the need to maintain peace and order by not obstructing other people from going about their lawful businesses.

He said that the policemen are out to ensure security of lives and property of the citizens as well as ensure compliance with laid down rules and regulations without prejudice.

Nicki Minaj covers Elle.+interview

(Thomas Whiteside/Elle)In addition to tardiness, Nicki Minaj – who showed up nearly 15 minutes late for Wednesday's "American Idol" live show – is known for her colorful, often outrageous looks that feature everything from hot pink hair to multicolored bustiers to retro makeup.
But in the new issue of Elle magazine, the Pink Friday singer undergoes a dramatic makeunder that has her wearing more neutral colors on her body and face. She's even without her signature pink pucker!
"When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I'm so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it's hard," the 30-year-old admits to the mag. "I feel that it's become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes - you know, nothing – I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."
The "American Idol" judge bares a lot for the interview, too, as she talks candidly about adjusting when her family relocated from her native Trinidad and Tobago to NYC when she was just 5. more pics after the cut...

Bye-Bye Tiger Woods, Hello another Billionaire;-)

Elin Nordegren has a new man in her life.
The former Mrs. Tiger Woods, 33, is reportedly dating billionaire coal magnate Chris Cline, a neighbor in her upscale North Palm Beach, Florida, community called Seminole Landing.
"Elin was introduced to Chris by a local friend because they seem to have a lot in common," a source told People, noting that they've been dating casually and non-exclusively since the holidays. "They both have children, like to keep their personal lives quiet, believe in philanthropy, and enjoy leisure outdoor activity."
Just who is this guy? Here are five facts about Cline:
He's a college dropout, just like Woods. The 55-year-old Cline attended Marshall University in his home state of West Virginia, but he left before graduating to join the same industry that his grandfather and father had been in before him. Cline founded the thriving company Foresight Energy, and his career was praised by the local Herald-Dispatch newspaper in 2011 as "one of the industry's great success stories." Not exactly a walking ad for higher education, is he?

Do you know Why Pope Francis Only Has One Lung

Pope Francis is a pioneering pontiff in many ways — he’s the first to take the name of Francis, the first pope from South America, and the first to don the papal robes with one lung.
According to the Associated Press, the new Pope had one of his organs removed as a teenager, presumably after a bout with an infection. At that time, it’s possible that antibiotic treatments that are commonly used today to treat such infections were not as available, and to protect patients from further health problems doctors removed the lung as way to stop the infection from spreading.
“It was probably a pretty bad infection, and maybe even an abscess, that might have caused him to bleed,” says Dr. John Belperio, association professor of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California Los Angeles. “If he were bleeding a lot in the lung, the only thing to do is to resect the lung, take it out, to stop the bleeding.”

Senate To Restrict Rent Payment In FCT To Six Months?

**GREAT NEWS**
Senate To Restrict Rent Payment In FCT To Six Months.

**6 months imprisonment for defaulters.
**Agency Fee payments will be settled by the Landlords, not the tenant.

A bill to restrict the payment of rents to six months in the Federal Capital territory (FCT) was on Wednesday proposed in the Senate. The bill stipulates six months imprisonment or a fine of N50,000 or both for landlords that collect more than six months’ rent from a prospecting tenant.

The bill seeks to regulate the relationship between landlords and tenants and rent control.

It also seeks to protect tenants from double agency payments by placing the burden of agency fees on the landlord.

It also stipulates that any rent agent, who collects additional agency fee from the tenant, commits an offence punishable under the bill.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Smart Adeyemi said rents charged by landlords in the FCT are so high that it is often far beyond the reach of average income earners.

The right Exercises

after reading this article, you would really want to know what the right exercises/moves are... guess what...
Butt - Bridge
Here are the right moves, all hand-picked by top fitness experts, to tone the trickiest areas of a woman's physique: butt, belly, arms, thighs, and hips.
To see real results in as little as four weeks, combine a few moves into a total-body strength-training session. Do it three times a week, leaving a rest day in between, and add three sessions of calorie-burning cardio on top of it. Then, load your grocery cart with foods rich in protein, fiber, and other nutrients--they'll give you the energy you need to power through your workouts, says Chicago fitness expert Lisa Payne.
Men are not left out ooo!
Butt - Curtsy lunge

Butt - Single-leg lunge to kick

Exercises you DO NOT need

Overrated: Crunches

  • Overrated: Crunches
This gym-class standard needs an update: According to research from San Diego State University, the traditional crunch is the least effective strengthener for both the rectus abdominus (6-pack muscles) and the obliques (waist muscles). What's more, because sit-ups require more strength from front ab muscles than obliques, this move can create a strength imbalance in the core -- setting you up for back problems.

Ribena Brand Name to br SOLD

Blackstone (NYSE: BX - news) , the American private equity giant, is among a pack of predators eyeing £1bn-plus bids for Lucozade and Ribena, the soft drinks brands.
I have learnt that Blackstone is preparing to make an offer for the brands if their current owner, the drugs giant GlaxoSmithKline (Other OTC: GLAXF - news) , puts them up for sale as expected.
The two brands, which have annual sales of more than £400m, have been designated as non-core assets by Sir Andrew Witty, GSK's Chief Executive, and are expected to be put on the auction block within months.
"They're great brands but they don't naturally tick the boxes for where I think the core synergy of the company sits," Sir Andrew said last month. "Every option is on the table. If there's an option out there that can do any better with them than us, that'd be great."
City analysts value Lucozade and Ribena at more than £1bn, with some arguing that they could be worth as much as £1.5bn.

Legendary broadcaster Tony Gubba dies at 69

Tony Gubba
Gubba spent decades working as a commentator with the BBC, but recently found new fame as the voice of ITV's Dancing on Ice.
He passed away following a short illness.
The Manchester-born commentator went to school in Blackpool and then started out in local papers before getting a job with the Daily Mirror. He then moved to the BBC in 1972 where he worked as a commentator and presenter on shows including Match of the Day, Grandstand and Sportsnight.
Though football made up the bulk of his work, he was an all-rounder who also commentated on sports including hockey, table tennis, golf, darts, ski jumping and of course ice skating.
He also commentated on every Olympic Games from 1972 to 2012 and every World Cup from 1974 to 2006.
