Ikeja City Mall Introduces Parking Fees

The Ikeja City Mall located in the heart of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, is now to charge N28,800 monthly as parking fee. This was stipulated in a memo that has been sent to shop owners within the building.
Customers are also expected to pay between N200 and above depending on the number of hours spent by their vehicles within the Mall.

The Mall houses businesses like Shoprite, the Silverbird Galleria, financial institutions and other business outfits.
The memo, tagged ‘Pay Parking Operations in Ikeja City Mall,’ issued by the Parking Security Cleaning Hygiene Office, a division of Servest Group and signed by Emeka Ikeanubia, the Parking Manager, stated that from Monday, 4 June 2012 , all tenants should cough out a monthly bay payment of N28,800 with an annual access tag fee of N16,000.
The statement instructed further that all payments must be made through a Skye Bank account number belonging to Easipark Nigeria Ikeja City Mall and that intending parkers who made payment should proceed to the parking management office with evidence of payment for the processing of access tags.
For customers, while the first 45 minutes would be free, every hour spent by the customer would attract N200, entry after 8 p.m. attracts N350 flat rate and lost ticket attracts a fine of N1,500.
P.M.NEWS learnt that shop owners and customers who were informed through memos and flyers are already complaining and planning to protest against the parking fee system.
