The Hosts of The Future Awards 2014 Unveiled
The Future Awards Africa unveils Osas Ighodaro, Iyanya, Ice prince and Uganda’s Flavia Tumisiime as host
Africa’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards Africa (TFAA), has unveiled Iyanya, Osas Ighodaro, Ice Price, and Flavia Tumisiime as their hosts for the 2014 edition. The hosts represent the best of African youths from Arts to music to Television in the past year. The hosts were announced with an exclusive photo shoot taken by TCD photography.
The Future Awards Africa 2014 will take place on 7th December, 2014 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos Nigeria. Time: 7.30pm – 9.30pm The event will be shown live by Channels Television , it will be a black tie event and by invite only.

(CNN) -- Scores of people are feared dead after three explosions rocked a northern Nigerian mosque where people had gathered for Friday prayers, Nigerian state-run broadcaster NTA and worshipers at the mosque said.
The explosions happened Friday at the Kano Central Mosque in Kano, northern Nigeria's largest city, where Islamist militant group Boko Haram has a significant presence and has launched deadly attacks previously.
Information about what caused the explosions wasn't immediately available.
Petroleum Minister, Alison-Madueke Elected First OPEC Female President
The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been elected the first female president of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Alison-Madueke was elected President of OPEC Thursday at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.
She replaces former President of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish.

Some of you might not know him well enough, but if you watch the fresh prince of Bel- Air, you would know Alfonso Ribeiro who played Carlton, the cousin of Will.
Ribeiro and his partner Witney Carson beat out “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson and her partner, Mark Ballas, and “Pretty Little Liars” actress Janel Parrish and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, to claim the coveted mirror ball trophy.
Ribeiro appeared elated as he hugged Carson, and he was in tears as he talked with the show’s co-host, Tom Bergeron.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday 28, 2014, secured the conviction of a top prison officer as Justice J.J Majebi of the Kogi State High Court, Okene, convicted and sentenced Joseph Friday Idachaba, Deputy Controller of Prisons, to 7 years imprisonment for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretense.
The convict is to pay the sum of N1, 403,114.09 in restitution to Nigeria Prison Service.
He had been arraigned in 2012 on a three-count charge before a court of law and the convict was found guilty on count three of the charge by the trial judge, who, however, acquitted him on two remaining counts.

This morning, the Huffington Post published an interview with two of Emirates airlines female flight attendants. The famously fancy airline might be the last bastion of glamorous travel: they’ll send a chauffeur to pick you up, there are on-board spas, and world famous chefs prepare the menus. But Maria Pederson and Laura Kellam revealed just how much work goes into presenting such a polished image.
“We do have one full day of training on grooming that focuses on image and uniform,” Pederson tells the Post. Her colleague Kellam ads, “There is a list of things we have to wear (like foundation), but we actually get a little manual with all the rules in it.” Those rules range from head to toe—literally. Nails must be painted clear, in a French manicure, or the same shade as their lipstick. It’s Clarins, by the way, their lipstick. Though it should match their signature pillbox hat, it should also flatter their specific skin tone. (And given that the crew hails from over 130 nations, you can bet every shade of red’s clocked a lot of miles.)

Athletic Bilbao's Telmo Zarra set the milestone of 251 goals in 271 La Liga games from 1940-55.
Playing in his 289th league game, the 27-year-old Messi first equaled Zarra's record in the 21st minute and then beat it in the 72nd at Camp Nou Stadium. The Argentine went on to get his hat trick in the 78th with his 253rd league goal giving Barcelona a 5-1 lead.

Nigerian nurse dies of Ebola virus as FG confirms 7 new cases
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, speaking today August 6th at a news conference in Abuja said a Nigerian nurse has died from the Ebola Virus. He said the nurse worked at the Lagos hospital where Liberian Patrick Sawyer was treated. He said she died yesterday August 5th. He also revealed that five medical practitioners who interacted with Sawyer have been confirmed to have contracted the deadly virus

Redeemers University student who killed father remanded in prison
The murder case against 21 year old Redeemers University student, Tolani Ajayi, who killed his 60 year old lawyer father, Charles Ajayi, on July 21st at the Redemption camp, came up for hearing today August 5th at an Ogun State Magistrate Court in Owode-Egba, Ogun state.
The Magistrate, Bolaji Ojikutu after hearing the charge against Tolani ordered that he be remanded in prison until October 10 when the case will be heard again. The case file, according to court sources, will be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice.
Sadly Tolani had no legal representative in court today and so could not enter any plea.

Tens of thousands of people around the world are going "bananas" over a tweet by Brazilian footballer Neymar. On Sunday, the Brazil international and Barcelona forward posted an image of himself on Instagram with a cheeky smile and a banana, side by side with his toddler son. Under the picture was the hashtag #weareallmonkeys, in English, as well as in Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan.
Jimmy Kimmel's faked twerking video wins Webby Award
A video of a twerking routine gone horribly wrong has won one of the internet's highest honours.
The "Twerk Fail" clip, which was later revealed to be a fake created by US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, was named best viral video at the Webbys.
Other winners included the Guardian newspaper, which was honoured for its interactive coverage of the NSA leaks.
The BBC also won two "people's choice" awards for its mobile news app, and its foreign language services.
The Webby Awards were established in 1996 as a way to recognise "excellence on the internet," according to the company's website.
There are dozens of categories, each with two winners. One is decided by a jury from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences - which includes Netflix star Kevin Spacey and Ariana Huffington - and the other voted for by the public.
