Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Alhaji Suleiman
Aliya, has warned that excessive alcohol consumption can reduce mental
performance especially in youths.
Aliya spoke at the Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government
in Lagos on Friday at the drug control awareness campaign for secondary
school pupils organised by the Organisation of Nigerian Chaplains in
conjunction with Lagos State Inter-ministerial Drug Abuse Control
Committee in Lagos on Friday. The drug control awareness campaign, which
was themed, “Drug and you,” attracted participants across the state.
The representative of Lagos NDLEA commander, Mrs.
Titi Okunloye, warned youths to stay away from alcohol to avoid the risk
of addiction which could slow down mental and physical productivity.
According to him, alcohol is one of the illegal drug
which is socially acceptable but harmful to the health of the consumers,
