AIG office hit by suicide today
Three people, including a police officer, are among the victims of
the two suicide bomb blasts in Sokoto city this afternoon as reported by SaharaReporters.
The other two deaths are of the suicide bombers, one of whom drove into the Police building at Unguwar Rogo and was killed, and the other into the zonal offices of the Assistant Inspector General of Police at Marina.
Sources close to scene of the blasts said that the policeman was killed when he attempted to stop the suicide bomber who drove a Volkswagen Golf car inside the AIG's office but was struck by the explosion from the car that he was pursuing.
The second suicide bomber died after hitting a ditch before reaching his target, which seemed to be the Police Officers’ Wives shops adjacent to Unguwar Rogo Police station.
Over 20 people around the explosion scenes suffered different category of injuries, including burned, and were rushed to area hospitals. Some of them were admitted at the Specialist Hospital and Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital.
No group has so far taken the responsibility for the attacks.
