Ogun 2015: Power of incumbency cannot stop the will of the people —Senator Kakah

Sen.-Shefiu-Adegbenga-Kakah

Senator Shefiu Adegbenga Kakah, a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, and serving Social Democratic Party (SDP) representing the Ogun East Senatorial District was on the party’s delegation led by the Ogun State governorship candidate, Senator Odunsi, to the head office of Vanguard Media Limited on Monday after which he fielded questions separately. Excerpts:
It is less than four weeks to the general elections and considering the fact that your party, the SDP, is just coming up, how confident are you that you will make a head way against the incumbency muscle wielded by Governor Ibikunle Amonsun, who is standing in the same election on the platform of the nation’s most vibrant opposition party, the APC?

Well, glory be to God that we have history behind us and we enjoy a lot of goodwill.  When I say “we”, that is, the members of the SDP, Social Democratic Party.  So if elections were to come up tomorrow, we are ever ready.
Therefore, incumbency has got nothing to do with the will of the people.  The people have been the ones wearing the shoe in the last three and a half years and they know where the shoe pinches.  They are desirous of change and, glory be to God, we happen to be the most credible alternative to the people of Ogun State.
What is the missing point in his administrative style that you feel will work in your favour?
When you look at the situation in Ogun State, you will find out that the state is fast becoming what New Jersey is to New York in USA, This is so because of its closeness to Lagos State and when you look at the potentialities of Ogun State both educationally and otherwise you have the largest concentration of tertiary institutions in the entire country in Ogun State. Then you talk about tourism and agriculture.
